Through My Eyes
*
It's time to work on the hair of Tara Drolma! This is rather fun in that it's very spontaneous and flowing; I'm just working on the flow and movement rather than on the surface texture. I'm thought I'd use that reddish clay since it's somewhat darker. With contrasting darker values it will be easier to see where I've added clay so I can modify things more easily. It looks very orange in this light!
![]() Here we can see how the hair complements the actual movement of the peice. It's actually far from done. I'm thinking of her having a headress in back and braids and there's still lots of jewelled ornament to figure out. Also it needs to move more into the space around her to suggest her powerful shamanic energy.
![]() A closeup of hair in front. This needs more work. In general it probably needs to project more out from the face and the hairline needs something that I haven't figured out yet. It's just fine if her hair were wet though! Let's look at the peice with more natural color...
![]() The gesture is working quite well I think! Those things in the back are speakers I'm going to repair and use with the projector for showing our Tibetan movies! Here's some more views...
![]() ![]() ![]() Here we can see the sense of Tara Drolma's indomitable optimism and dignity. We can also see by the set of her jaw a certain impatience with hypocrisy of any sort that expresses itself sometimes quite bluntly as we know from stories of her. More often it's with gentle amused sarcasm but certainly she is not afraid to speak the truth when it needs to be said!
