The Prayer Flag
continued from page 3.
![]() I continue sculpting. I work on one blossom, then the other as I work so that it is easier to keep the shapes similar. Not identical though of course! I am working slowly as I try to gain an understanding of how to translate the delicate form of the lotus into wood. In the back you can see the spun thread for the prayer flags.
![]() They're coming along rather well!
![]() Here they with the roughing and much of the modelling completed; there is still much to go though! I've turned them around so you can see the opposite side.
![]() October 27
With firm commitment a Windhorse project quietly continues on. Here I'm sanding the blossoms. This creates a smooth surface for gilding. It also allows me to do fine modelling work as I shape forms that I'm unable to using the relatively few gouge curvatures that I have.
![]() Here are the lotus blossoms ready for gilding! This will be done a bit later. In the meantime I begin the studies for the sculpture of a land of Tibet which hopefully I'll be able to bring us soon!
![]() With the lotus blossoms prepared it is time to begin the creation of the loom!
*If you click on the prayer flag you can hear the Tibetan Anthem here too
