The Loom
I've spent a lot of time spinning and plying grapevine to create attachments between the loom and the backstrap. I started out with rather thick designs...
then ones with less material as I refined my technique. The first one farthest in the background is used to anchor the loom.
Here's a closeup of the grapevine bark weaving! The thinner designs are more flexible and are somewhat easier to use with the loom. The tails on the thicker designs are kind of neat though. They make the grapevine weaving look like the horsetail tashuur or miniaa, the shaman's whip used to sweep away negative energy that Sarangerel Odigon a Buryat shaman speaks of.

Here's how the backstrap might attaches to the loom!. On either side of the backstrap a stick goes through the sewn loop.
Then the grapevine bark weaving goes on the stick! The stick on the end of the loom itself would go between the stick and the grapevine weaving. The stick will be shortend then formed with notches to hold the grapevine bark. The design is quite sturdy!
