Through My Eyes

Continuing work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma!  Here I'm beginning to prepare the surface of the other side of the base. We can see the spindle is elsewhere; actually it's sitting on top of the knapsack I take to our outreach events. I usually use what's on the spindle for a given session of weaving since it's easier to carry about that way. It's actually dark in the park for much of the weaving but the tree I tie the loom to grows near a lampost so this is not a problem!

It looks quite a bit more refined now! Because the clay is thin on these surfaces I have to be certain I keep the towels that
cover them particularly moist.

The lower surface is somewhat uneven; the side is narrower near the corner. I'll straighten it by attaching the ledge below then filling in the clay where there are gaps.
